Agriculture Department Course Offerings:

 

Greenhouse Management:   This is an introductory course for those students interested in exploring the field of horticulture.  There is an emphasis on greenhouse operations.  Leadership is also an integral part of this course.

Hydroponics I & II:  This two semester course is a continuation and more in-depth study of the principles learned in Greenhouse Management.  These courses will have more hands-on practice and will study hydroponics in detail.

Aquaculture I & II:   These courses deal with the study of fish and other marine life including plants grown in water.

Horticulture Technology:  This course is designed for serious career minded horticulture students.  Areas covered include:  business and leadership, SAEP, controlled environment, production, sales and marketing, environmental concerns, safety, hydroponics, aquaculture, and any other area current to today's or tomorrow's agriculture needs.  Students work indoors and outdoors on various landscaping projects.

Ag. Mechanics I:  This course is designed to provide an introduction to agriculture mechanics.  Students study welding, cutting torch, small engines, electricity, and FFA leadership.

Ag. Power & Equipment:  Basic information and lab activities on small engines, tractors, and agricultural equipment maintenance, repair, and overhaul.

Ag. Sales & Service - Prepares students to enter a customer service related career in agriculture.

Floriculture:  Floral design includes floral identification, business operations, sales techniques, display of floral products, and others.

Forestry:  This course covers many areas of forest management such as tree identification, timber harvesting, timber cruising, tsi, forest protection, and wildlife management.

Agriscience:  This course studies animal, plant, and soil science.  It also includes leadership and FFA activities.  Labs are conducted in the greenhouse and ag. mechanics shop.
